It’s listings like this that remind us how cool the first generation ML was and still is more than 20 years later. Recently spotted for sale on a W163/W164 owners group, this 2000 ML320 appears to be a great deal at a $5,999 list price. Only 70k miles are displayed on this example and the seller has been kind enough to furnish a complete Carfax for the sale showing a clean history and decent maintenance. Finished in Cypress Green Metallic (272-Amazonite outside the NA market) over a Java leather interior we’re immediately tempted to save this example as anything “Green over Tan '' is hard to come by in the Mercedes realms. The exterior appears to be in fine shape and although the photos don’t give a great representation this ML in whole seems to represent the age and mileage nicely. The seller has upgraded the tires to a set of larger BF Goodrich K02 All Terrains and although we appreciate the look, we can’t help but think some OEM brush guards and a rack would really complete the thought.
The interior has been nicely kept with the Java leather showing some light aging through some heavy creases and scuffing around the driver's immediate area. Aside from these marks, the cabin’s in great condition and displays wonderfully. It’s rare to find Java Leather on these ML’s and when we do it’s not often it’s in nice shape like this example. The seller has managed to update the power outlet in the passenger footwell by adding a built in USB outlet with voltage readout. The wood trim and console panels all appear to be in nice shape along with the factory COMAND head unit and switchgear. We’d advise any interested parties to ask for photos of the headliner and cargo area as they’re not provided.
Altogether this 2000 ML320 seems like a great deal for the asking price and is sure to convey loads of character far beyond what most new SUVs can offer. Even as a daily driver the mileage is sure to remain lower than the market average and this ML can be perfect for a daily commute in city traffic or search and rescue in the most remote terrains.
