Green on Green 5.0: 1978 450SLC 5.0

Generally when we stumble upon a listing with one semi-grainy photo and a chunk of information that appears to be copied from the standard search engine, we assume it’s too good to be true. In the case of this 1978 450SLC 5.0, it might actually be the real deal and although not much background is given, the context clues certainly line up. The listing can be found here on Craigslist and is being sold in Anchorage, Alaska. Asking price is a reasonable $35,000 considering 83k miles are shown along with a solid maintenance history.

The only photo available is this front-quarter shot of this 450SLC 5.0 and after reading the ad, we’re really wishing an entire gallery could be found. This 5.0 coupe is finished in Deep Green (825) over Avocado Cloth/Corduroy...Yes we’ve asked for more photos. Also accenting this specific car is a Zender ground effects kit that appears to be period correct or added decades back. The seller even notes heated seats as an original option.

Just under 3000 5.0 cars were built and a fraction of those remain on the roads now. A few different registries keep tabs on the cars and owners but there’s no better resource than the people who have actually owned and loved these rare coupes. For the eager shoppers, this does appear to be a true listing and the VIN does match up on forum posts previously. We’ll update this listing with photos as we receive them but until then, try to imagine just how cool this combination is with a full gallery.
