On the market today, you can find a plethora of R170 examples scattered endlessly online for sale. Most of these have been well-enjoyed and have high miles along with a lot of needs. The removable top motors always need attention, interior bits always need touching up, and of course typical maintenance items on top of that. On occasion, we come across some low mileage examples and honestly, for the money, it's a super fun car to zip around in making it high on our value spectrum. The standard body r170 definitely leaves us wanting something more aggressive and sporty so if you're looking in to purchasing one yourself, we'd highly recommend a Sport package or AMG spec.
If you're like us, you love finding a great deal. Listed in Newark, DE, this 1999 SLK230 Kompressor is checking all of our boxes. It's only got 54k-miles on the odometer, it is a full Sport package which is essentially a much needed AMG styling upgrade, and to top it all off, it's a manual. The sport package also gave these cars an upgraded exhuast, 17" monoblock style wheels, and upgraded sway bars. The color combo is classic as well with Silver over a two toned red/black interior.
You'll have to ask the seller about the specifics but they do state that the car runs and drives great. From the pictures, the car appears to be very well cared for and no major blemishes stand out. The best part of it all, the asking price is $5,500 which we'd put in the great deal category. It'd certainly be difficult to find a cleaner example at that price. Much less, a sport package with low mileage and a manual transmission. Don't sleep on this one or it might get gone quick!
