Lately, the w210 E class has been getting all the attention as values are quickly rising. The w210 is a much more simple machine when compared to it's predecessor, the w211, and that's likely what gives it such a large appeal. But what about the w211? While the curve has been slower, the w211 E class has officially started to see increasing values, although we think the w210 will continue to shine the brightest for some time. All this to say, the day will come when the w211 is even more rare and collectible than it already is today. This 2003 E55 AMG shows only 44k miles traveled over the last 17 years and is now listed by it's current owner for $24,000 in Concord, California.
This E55 is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over Anthracite Leather. No major dents can be seen from the photos and with such low mileage, we expect minimal blemishes. Some oxidation of the headlights can be seen which is common for these cars and is easily restored. On the interior, the woodgrain shows no fading and the leather shows minimal wear. The only noticeable wear is on the driver's seat bolsters which is common on the bucket seats of the E55. The seller states the sun visors could be replaced to be perfect although no photos are provided. We'd recommend getting pictures of the headliner and engine bay as none are provided in the original listing.
From a value standpoint, unmodified examples of these types of car carry the highest premium; the exception being specialty builds by popular tuners such as RENNtech, Brabus, etc. While this particular E55 is not bone stock, the modifications are tasteful and can be easily reversed if desired. Modifications include the addition of a carbon fiber front splitter, side skirt, and rear diffuser along with CL65 AMG two-piece wheels. The seller notes some minor curb rash on the lips of the wheels. Lowering links have also been installed to give the car a more aggressive stance. Lastly, a painted lip spoiler has been added to the trunk lid as well.
It's worth noting the 2003 E55's were known for having defective Valeo radiators which resulted in the leaking of coolant into the transmission due to shared lines. It's certainly worth asking if any of those components have been replaced in an act of prevention or if the car has experienced the issue previously. The seller does state that the car has been fully serviced which includes a fresh fluids. In addition, new Arnott struts have been installed along with some other front suspension components. We're hoping this was preventative and not due to an accident.
The seller seems to be a car enthusiast and owns a couple of other toys including a 46k-mile CL55 AMG. Yes, it's for sale as well. As an enthusiast, it can be beneficial to purchase from a fellow enthusiast because the cars in general are well cared for as opposed to an object of transportation. All things considered, the w211 AMG market is strong and low-mileage examples are beginning to appreciate.
