Timeless Car in a Timeless Color: Classic White 500SL Euro-Spec

Ending tomorrow on Bringatrailer, this nicely presented 1985 Euro 500SL (R107) has all the right makings of a smart purchase. The car is cosmetically in good shape overall, low mileage (Listed at just 54,000), has a clean CarFax, and recent service documentation. Other highlights include some California ownership (Usually helps keep rust at bay), AMG styling cues which include an Aero kit and what look like "AMG Style" Ronal Penta wheels, which would be period correct for the car.

Finished in Classic White (737) over a re-upholstered Palomino (274) and a brown soft top, we think this is a classic finish to an already Classic and quickly appreciating R107 market. The Euro-spec cars are highly desirable from both a cosmetic standpoint, given the shorter bumpers and more-attractive headlights, and from a performance standpoint. Despite the larger displacement on the US 560 models, the 500SL Euro cars actually made it to 60mph quicker than the 560 (6.9 sec Vs. 8 for the 560), and had a higher top speed (140 vs 137).

The only thing we would have wished to see on this car would be the optional 5-speed manual gearbox. Despite that, this 500SL looks to be in perfect order for the next owner to enjoy straight out of the box. Head over to the listing on Bringatrailer for a full photo gallery, and and ongoing discussion between the seller and the R107 community. Bonus points if you mention that you saw this car on The MB Market in the comments!
